Approach

I am Steph, a photographer and a dog mama based in San Antonio. I picked the camera up properly in 2018, while working my way through a stretch of bad anxiety, and it turned out to be the thing that kept me present. That is still what the work is for.

The Lady half of the name was my dog for eighteen years. She saw me through college, through heartbreaks, through travelling further than I had any business travelling, and she was there for the first photographs I ever took seriously. It seemed right to keep her name on the door.

I photograph in natural light and I do not do much directing. A session is closer to spending an hour together than to being posed: I might suggest somewhere to walk or something to talk about, then get out of the way. The frames people keep are almost always the ones taken between the instructions.
